Here is the difference between the Gearbox GX6 and GX5 Pickleball paddles for power vs. control. Both the power and control version use the same Solid Span Technology and also use the same materials, they differ though in the way the technology and material is applied to each paddle. Essentially each paddle type (control vs. power) has a different “lay-up” in the sweet spot area. The graphite sheets are laid at different angles and patterns depending on the play type Gearbox wants to achieve. This varied lay-up gives each paddle its unique performance ability which is how Gearbox can truly make a paddle with either more control or power.
