Yes all paddles wear out and the core gets softer over time. The Z5 uses a Nomex Honeycomb (basically honeycomed cardboard) core which does give that best pop but it tends to be louder and does wear out faster than polymer core paddles. If you are playing a lot and tend to hit the ball hard it could wear out in 1 year, usually you will get a soft spot in the center of the paddle.
