what differences does the indoor/outdoor ball have that allows both uses

Usually outdoor balls have 40 holes and are made of thicker more rigid plastic while indoor balls have 26 (larger holes) and thinner softer plastic. Balls like the Jugs balls say indoor and outdoor use but are more an indoor ball. Many years ago there wasn't a large selection of pickleballs to choose from so many indoor players still used the Jugs balls outdoors.
