It sounds like to get a paddle similar to the one you have now, it would be best to go with a mid-weight.
I play with a paddletek 7.8-8.4 currently. Not sure if I should get the LW or MW for the Selkirk Vanguard 2.0. Selkirk Vanguard 2.0 S2 Pickleball Paddle
I have had soreness in my upper muscle and a little bit in my shoulder
