Putting lead tape on a paddle is all about personal preference. If you put tape on top it will make the paddle heady heavy, which will make the paddle more powerful, but slower to react. Tape on the middle will make the sweet spot larger and balance the paddle between maneuverability and power. Putting tape an the bottom of the paddle face will still make the sweet sport larger, but not necessarily increase the power.
