The JOOLA Ben John's Hyperion CAS 13.5 Pickleball Paddle core utilizes a multi-step, abrasion sand-blasted process, creating a unique, textured surface for increased spin. The 13.5mm core is easier to maneuver at the net for a quicker reaction time vs a thicker core paddle. The face is made from a blend of fiberglass and carbon to achieve a balance between power and control.

The Hyperion Series features JOOLA's unique Aero Curve top that results in less drag for a faster swing speed.

JOOLA Pickleball Paddle CORE Materials Explained - JOOLA has 2 different paddle surfaces available, each designed to meet a specific playing style.

    • RESPONSE Honeycomb Polymer Core - Provides reduced vibration and a generous sweet spot with amazing feedback, feel, amd control necessary for dinks, blocks and drives
    • REACTIVE Honeycomb Polymer Core - Specially tuned for the high-level player to maximize the consistency of the bounce and feel necessary for every shot.

JOOLA Pickleball Paddle Surface Tech Explained - JOOLA has 5 different paddle surfaces available, each designed to meet a specific playing style.

    • Carbon Touch Surface (CTS) - Preferred choice for the player wanting maximum control and touch, by reducing the amount of friction coming off your paddle.
    • Carbon Grip Surface (CGS) - JOOLA's CGS technology utilizes a durable, long-lasting Carbon-Flex 3 textured surface that grips the ball to create more spin.
    • Fiberglass Abrasion Surface (FAS) - JOOLA's FAS technology utilizes a multi-step, abrasion sand-blasted process, creating a unique fiberglass textured surface for increased spin.
    • Carbon Abrasion Surface (CAS) - JOOLA's CAS technology utilizes a multi-step, abrasion sand-blasted process, creating a unique, textured surface for increased spin.
    • Carbon Friction Surface (CFS) - JOOLA's CFS technology utilizes a more advanced, durable, longer lasting Carbon-Flex 5 textured surface, harnessing raw power while providing maximum spin.

Six months player. Wanted a little more power than I was getting with my Head Radical Pro. Mike @ Pickleball Galaxy recommended the Ben Johns CAS 13.5. First time I played with it, it was ok. Second time, it felt great. Putaways and passing shots are so much better but still great for dinking. Oh, and the handle feels perfect, even the ridged grip. Btw, all the women think it is so pretty! Ha! Ps, if you don’t want to spend more than $100, try the Head Radical Pro. It is a great starter paddle.

I’ve been a table tennis player for years and jumped at the chance to demo this new Joola paddle. I was not disappointed and quickly ordered one. I love the pop, feel, weight, and power of this paddle and the colors are great!

I was excited for this new foray into PB. I always knew Joola as quality equipment in table tennis and was hoping it would be the same in PB. I was correct. I have played with the Hyperion CFS 16mm, Vision 16mm and this CAS 13.5mm. I liked all of them, but felt the Vision lacked power and weight (though spin is almost identical to Hyperion CFS IMO), and the Hyperion CFS was good, but a little too soft for my style of play. I was hoping that one of the CAS paddles would have the spin and power I was looking for. I honestly had more hope with the Hyperion CAS 16mm, but tried the 13.5mm first. I came from the Paddletek Bantam EX-L Pro & Sabre Pro, which are fantastic power paddles and loved them. I was just interested in trying the new kid in town. I was surprised that this paddle (CAS 13.5mm) was very consistent and similar to the feel of my Paddleteks, but with a little harder surface. There was a very small feel learning curve with this paddle, except it is a lot lighter and more power for the weight. I had more power with my Paddleteks, but with lead tape. This paddle has almost the same out of the box, but with added spin. I would recommend this paddle for people who want spin with hard power. If you need a softer feel, maybe try the 16mm or the CFS 16mm. I don't live and die for spin so the difference from the CFS isn't that important to me. Hope this helps.

This is an awesome paddle. The surface has truly increased my spin and it is well balanced. The tacky grip keeps the paddle solid in my hand. It has gotten a lot of compliments from my pickleball group. Pickleball galaxy was fast in their shipping too.
