I have used the racquetball Head Radical's for many years. I've been playing for over 40 years. Since racquetball has really died off since our pandemic started, its difficult to play racquetball anymore. So I just decided to try pickleball. I was shocked at the variety of paddles available. For my first paddle, I figured I would stick with something I know, which was the Head Radical.
In racquetball I play both handed (depending on which level I play). I found this paddle to give me the extra reach when switching hands to get the shot, and I like that. I do like the balance of the paddle and the control. But remember this is my first paddle so I got a long way to go on checking out additional paddles. Right now, I really like the Head Radical.

I got a Red XL right before the pandemic hit and loved it; I bought a new one because I dropped it and the rim chipped. The fact I choose to get another Xl says it all. I choose the Blue cause I wanted to see how the weight affected my game. (I figured I could always add some lead tape.)
I switch hands so this paddle gives me great reach cross court as well as some additional height. I get great spin control both on serves and in play. It's a little harder on ball placement but worth the extra learning/effort. I come from a NYC handball/paddleball background so I tend to use the entire paddle and shift paddle angles in play.
I'd highly recommend this paddle even though Head is discontinuing it.

I am a 4.0 player and have played pickleball for past 6 yers. My reach is not as big as other guys. This paddle gives me extra reach, the 7.6 oz makes it very quick at net.
The lighter weight gives me
tremendous whip on ground strokes, I have actually gained power. Give it a try.

Bought the paddle thinking that the extra width out at the end would be the place to have it. After a couple weeks playing with it, I would say that is true. This replaced my aluminum core paddle which was LOUDER and resulted in a bit more speed. Having said that this paddle does have adequate speed/power according to some with whom I have played. Although I have had to build up my grip on my previous paddle, this grip is awesome right out of the box. I am still hitting the occasional ball off the edge near the handle but that will resolve itself in time. It's a keeper.

Played with Blue Radical which is slightly lighter. Coming from racquetball, I prefer either a longer head or handle for reach and swing through. I found this and Gearbox to be engineered with no head wrap and thin profile which has advantages and disadvantages- namely not having a "dense and more solid" feel with hitting the ball which conventional construction on Onix, Paddleteck and Engage use.
I found edge hitting (off center) thin when hitting or taking down strong hits and the handle is on the short side so little wrist snap.

The lite weight paddle I was looking for and gives that added reach I needed. Those side shots I missed before I now get.
