Onix Evoke Premier Pro Raw Carbon

I am fairly new to Pickleball, but not to racket sports, so I found the migration to pickleball pretty easy. I’ve got the pickleball bug. I had the pleasure of meeting Pat Bernardo while playing pickleball in Florida. I watched him play with some very good players and was extremely impressed. I was testing a demo paddle at the time when it was brought to my attention that Pat owns PickleballGalaxy (PG). After Pat’s match, I introduced myself. Pat was such a nice guy, I decided to buy from PG. I started with the Selkirk SLK Halo Control Max, 16mm paddle last December. It is a fine paddle, but as my game progressed from December through March of this year, I wanted to get a little more power without compromising too much control. A friend of mine purchased the 14mm Onix Mayhem and I was about to do the same. During my search on PG, I found the Onix Evoke Premier Pro Raw Carbon paddle. Since the Selkirk SLK is Raw Carbon, and I like the response I got through it, I chose the Evoke. Plus the evoke offers a longer handle option which is a better fit for me. I recently had the chance to play against my friend who chose the Mayhem, and we compared our paddles by switching out. We played multiple games with each. We found we like them both. We also noticed there is just a very little bit less contact vibration with the Evoke than with the Mayhem. Very subtle though. My friend was so impressed with the Evoke, he decided to buy one through PG as well, to have two quality paddles in his arsenal. In summary IMHO, if you’re new to the game, get a 16mm paddle for ultimate control. Once you hit the 3.25 to 3.5 DUPR rating, which only takes a little time, start investigating a 14mm paddle. Once your consistently above 3.5, you can start looking at a thinner, more powerful option. Finally, no matter which paddle you choose, consider buying from Pat Bernardo and PickleballGalaxy.com. And no, I have not been paid for this endorsement. I found Pat to be a very nice and knowledgeable guy and am happy to support his business. To date, I have not been disappointed with PG’s service.
