Upgrade Your Pickleball Paddle Grip to a Python Rubber Grip for unbelievable comfort and control. They don't just look great on your paddle they will also last for the life of your paddle. Python rubber grips work best with a leather glove.
I hadn't planned to buy this paddle.
Playing with my men's group, I borrowed the GX6 from someone who had recently upgraded. So, I had maybe 6 or 8 games to test out this paddle. It did everything I asked it to do. Good touch at the net. Enough spin. Adequate power when I needed to pop a drive third shot. Good on overheads. It's owner told me that it was a solid core with no laminated layers.
So I thought, "why not buy one of these as my new replacement to a de-laminated starter paddle. I'm glad that I chose this one. If I get 6 months out of it, I'll be satisfied.
I only gave 4 stars because I'm not qualified to compare this to others, and there might be a 5-star paddle that deserves that rating.

I was into my 2nd year playing Pickleball when I decided to try a different paddle. A friend had a Gearbox GX5, and I tried it for a game. That led me to buying my Red Gearbox GX6. I had been simply a power player, but the edge guard sometimes caused shots to go astray, so I liked the idea of the GX6 having a smooth edge all around. It took me about 3 months to start using the paddle for touch/drop shots around the net, and my power was not diminished, but playing outdoors on hardcourt surfaces caused me to scrape those edges so that now after playing with it for 2+ yrs, I decided to replace it with the very same paddle. I am used to it, and it allows me to be competitive even at my advanced age of 71. The Gearbox GX6 still provides the power I require of it, and I am much more adept now with the touch shots. The first few days with the new paddle had me working on my lobs, and after that first day, I am locked in.

I used the demo program and it was an easy choice for me to buy this paddle. I was able to see and feel how the two racquets I used played. Several of the folks I played with tried the demo and agreed that this was clearly better.
I've only been played with it a few times but I have noticed the feel and control differences and like the extended length of the paddle.

I received my Gearbox GS 6 and did get the gator grip. Maybe it was all in my head but from my first several games it was everything I had hoped for and did not think was out there. Control, spin, and plenty of power. The touch on this is also great. I think I have finally found the best all round paddle. Thinking to buy another just in case. Love the big grip with the gator grip. Could not be more satisfied!!

I tried the GX5 power first and missed my elongated shape and control of my Gamma paddle. Then I got the GX6 control and it's way better than the GX5. The control is much superior and I don't feel a difference with respect to power. I need the small handle so I can wear a hand brace or thick glove. And I love not having an edge guard! The sweet spot seems small, but without an edge guard, at least I'm not sending balls into other courts when I miss the sweet spot.

Bought this for my wife because it has such a small grip. I made a mistake by getting an upgraded grip put on it. It made the grip a bit bigger and she is having trouble adjusting to it. The paddle is great just be careful if you upgrade the grip.

Switched to this paddle and my control and power have both improved. I like the feel as the ball comes off the paddle. Spin is more pronounced as well,

Just picked up the GX6 and love it. It’s marketed as a control paddle and I agree but also can drive the ball hard and accurately with ease. The shape and weight is really great for fast hands at the net. The paddle also shines during soft play. It’s great for dinking. And...really great for spin if you like to put some motion on your slices, rolls and top spin shots. I personally love the long handle too. Can’t really talk yo gearbox enough. I’ve played their Racquetball racquets for years so naturally I was excited to try out their pickleball paddles. The GX6 is a versatile, durable and very ergonomic paddle. 10/10.

Outstanding paddle. Because of its thin depth it looks like it would be hard BUT, just the opposite, unbelievable feel and control.

While giving this paddle(GX6 control) five stars, I recognize that something better could be out there. Nothing is perfect. It's just the best I have played with so far. The weird thing is that the GX5 is the worst paddle I have ever played with, and I don't really understand that. While the GX5 is dead, with no apparent sweet spot, the GX6 has a wonderful balance of control and power, and a large sweet spot. The feel is definitely soft -- even softer than the Selkirk Amped S2 that I have been playing with -- so if you don't like that, it is not for you. I love to spin the ball, and this paddle definitely delivers on that front. I'm glad I tried the GX6 first. Had I tried the GX5 first, I would have dismissed the Gearbox paddles en masse and never would have given the GX6 a chance.
